Red Ames allowed 4 hits while blanking Philadelphia at Baker Bowl as the New
York Giants beat the Philadelphia Phillies in 10 innings 1 to 0.
The run-column was full of goose eggs at the end of nine full innings. New
York won the hard fought contest in the 10th inning. Mike Donlin delivered a
one-base hit. After an out was recorded, Art Devlin stepped up to the plate
and he drew a walk. Roger Bresnahan then drew a walk to load the bases. Al
Bridwell was up next and he drew a walk scoring the run. New York had only 5
hits for the afternoon.
It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Ames(12-1). George McQuillan(25-15) was
hit with the loss. He pitched 9 and 1/3 innings giving up 5 hits and 6
walks.
