WEB GEMS- Bot 4th: Honus Wagner robbed Ed Konetchy of a base hit.

Second baseman Chappy Charles had 4 hits and Fred Beebe had a complete game as
the St. Louis Cardinals outscored the Pittsburg Pirates 11 to 3.

Charles provided much of the offense. He doubled scoring two baserunners in
the 3rd inning, launched a Grand Slam homerun in the 4th inning, lashed a
single in the 6th inning and lined a one-base hit in the 8th inning. St.
Louis had a total of 16 hits for the game.

Beebe(7-13) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. Lefty
Leifield(12-13) was the losing pitcher. He was hit hard and gave up 13 hits
and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.

'The ball was jumping off my bat' Charles said. 'I didn't do anything
differently, it's the same way I always approach the game.'
