Pete Wilson allowed George Stallings to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game as the New York Highlanders defeated the Boston Red Sox 5 to 4 at
Huntington Ave Grnds.

New York won the game with a rally in the top of the 8th inning with 2 runs on
2 hits. Ray Demmitt led off and started the rally when he drew a walk.
After an out was recorded, Charlie Hemphill stepped up to the plate and he
singled. Hemphill then stole second base. Jack Wanner was up next and he
drew a walk to load the bases. One out later, Jimmy Austin came to the plate
and doubled knocking home two runners. Boston made it exciting in the 9th,
but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

The winning pitcher was Wilson(4-9) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Jack
Chesbro(1-7) ended up with the loss. He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings giving up
7 hits and 3 walks.
