Gene Dale carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning as the Cincinnati Reds beat
the Chicago Cubs by a score of 7 to 0.

Dale(16-17) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Chicago batters. He surrendered only 1 hit and 2 walks in 9 innings. The
right-handed Dale lost his no-hit bid when Bob Fisher singled with one out in
the 7th inning. Cincinnati finished with 11 hits in the victory.

Phil Douglas(5-16) was tagged with the loss. He got hammered, allowing 11
hits and 3 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
