TEAM RISP- Giants: 7 for 20 White Stockings: 2 for 14

Tim Keefe allowed Jim Mutrie to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game at
West Side Park as the amazing New York Giants came back dramatically to top
the Chicago White Stockings by the score of 13 to 8.

The difference in the game was the offensive outburst by New York in the 9th
inning as they showed no mercy on Chicago blasting them for 6 hits and
plating 8 runs. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town
fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

Keefe(35-10) was the winner allowing 8 runs for the game. The loss was charged
to John Clarkson(51-13). New York knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 13
runs in 9 innings.

After the game, it took a long while before Cap Anson emerged from his office.
In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions. He concluded
with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood this afternoon, as I
think you'll understand. I'm sure you'll find the banter a lot more
light-hearted over in the New York locker room.'
