Dan McGann had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Al Maul pitched a complete game as
the sizzling Baltimore Orioles staged a dramatic comeback over the Boston
Beaneaters by a score of 8 to 7 at South End Grounds.

Baltimore had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs. Willie Keeler led off and started the rally when he drew a walk.
Hughie Jennings was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Joe Kelley
then drew a walk. One out later, Ducky Holmes came up and he tripled
knocking home two runners. Despite scoring in 5 separate innings, Boston
could not get the win.

Maul(18-7), allowing 7 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Vic
Willis(17-17) was the loser. He surrendered 8 hits and 7 walks in 8 and 2/3
innings.

After the game, it took a long while before Frank Selee emerged from his
office. In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions. He
concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood this
afternoon, as I think you'll understand. I'm sure you'll find the banter a
lot more light-hearted over in the Baltimore locker room.'
