In an embarrassing outing for the Baltimore Orioles pitching staff,
Philadelphia Phillies flexed their collective muscle amassing 14 runs as
Wiley Piatt(26-9), with relief help from Bill Bernhard, surrendered 2 runs to
Baltimore.

Piatt pitched a solid game.  He went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 7 hits and 2
walks.  Philadelphia had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in
6 separate innings.  

Harry Howell(12-12) was tagged with the loss.  He got hit pretty hard,
allowing 18 hits and 7 walks in 9 innings.
