Jack Powell allowed Patsy Tebeau to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and Emmet Heidrick had 4 hits as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the
Cincinnati Reds by the score of 10 to 5 at League Park.

St. Louis scored 4 runs in the decisive top of the 4th inning when they had 5
base hits.  They would prove to be the difference in the contest.  Despite
scoring in 5 separate innings, Cincinnati could not get the win.  

The winning pitcher was Powell(21-10) who allowed 5 runs for the game. Doc
Newton(10-17) suffered the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 13 hits and 5
walks in 9 innings.
