Shortstop Steve Yerkes had 2 base hits and 3 RBI and Smoky Joe Wood tossed a
complete game as the Boston Red Sox outscored the New York Highlanders 8 to
6.

Boston scored 4 runs in the decisive top of the 3rd inning with the help of 3
hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Yerkes who silenced Hilltop Park as
he doubled bringing home two baserunners.  Both teams totaled 12 hits on the
afternoon.  

The victory was credited to Wood(20-13) who went the distance, allowing 6
runs. Jack Warhop(15-11) absorbed the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 12
hits and 4 walks in 9 innings.
