Dick McBride was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game at South End Grounds where the Philadelphia Athletics beat the
Boston Red Stockings by the score of 6 to 4.

In the top of the 2nd inning Philadelphia scored 3 runs.  Philadelphia had 10
hits for the afternoon.  McBride(24-18) finished the game allowing 4 runs in
the victory. Al Spalding(34-8) was hit with the loss.  He gave up 6 runs and
10 hits in 9 innings.
