WEB GEMS- Top 4th: Tom Morrissey robbed John Irwin of a base hit.

Ed Cushman took a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Milwaukee Brewers beat
the Boston Reds by a score of 9 to 1.

Cushman(2-0) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Boston
hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 4 hits and 2 walks in 9
innings. Cushman chalked up 14 strikeouts. The left-handCushman had his
no-hit bid broken up by Tom O'Brien who singled with two outs in the 6th
inning. Milwaukee rapped out 11 hits for the afternoon.

Tommy McCarthy(1-4) was tagged with the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 11 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Cushman - except Boston. Tim
Murnane lamented, 'He just was 'on' this afternoon. He was keeping our guys
off balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a
fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'
