Ed Walsh went 9 solid innings at White Sox Park where the Chicago White Sox
beat the ice-cold St. Louis Browns 4 to 2.

Walsh(23-9) came through with a virtuoso performance against the St. Louis
hitters.  He gave up just 5 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings.  Chicago had a
total of 8 hits for the game.  

The loss was charged to Red Nelson(0-13). He surrendered 8 hits and 6 walks in
8 innings.  'He came out with good stuff,' Hugh Duffy said about Walsh. 'He
threw the ball good from the first pitch on.'
