Center fielder Sam Crawford had 3 base hits and 3 RBI and Ed Summers had a
complete game as the Detroit Tigers outscored the Chicago White Sox 9 to
1.

Detroit went ahead for good in the top of the 4th inning plating 2 runs on 2
base hits.  Matty McIntyre led off and started the attack as he tripled.
Donie Bush was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.  Crawford then
laced a base-knock which scored a run.  Hughie Jennings then called for a
steal which was successful.  Ty Cobb stepped into the box and reached on an
error scoring the final run of the inning.  Detroit totaled 15 hits on the
afternoon.  

Summers(13-16) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. The losing
pitcher was Ed Walsh(32-15).  He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings giving up 11 hits
and 1 walk.
