Nap Lajoie had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Fred Blanding was able to finish what he
started and was credited with a complete game at League Park as the Cleveland
Naps beat the St. Louis Browns in 12 innings by the count of 3 to 2.
The score was tied at 2 after nine. Cleveland was victorious in the 12th
inning. Blanding smacked a single. Nemo Leibold came next and he laid down
a sacrifice bunt. Ray Chapman struck out, unable to help the rally. Joe
Jackson was up next and he drew a walk. Lajoie came up to bat and doubled
resulting in an exciting win for Cleveland and a raucous post-game
celebration by the home town fans. Cleveland had 10 hits for the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Blanding(14-8) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Walt
Leverenz(9-13) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 11 and 2/3 innings
allowing 10 hits and 6 walks.
