St. Louis started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the first with 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits. Burt Shotton got things going when he delivered a solo blast. Gus Williams stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Bunny Brief then laced a single. Del Pratt came up and he hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning.
