Jesse Burkett had 5 hits and 2 RBI as the Cleveland Spiders defeated the
dreadful St. Louis Browns in 11 innings by a score of 5 to 4 at Robison
Field.

Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally, Cleveland
prevailed in the 11th inning.  Patsy Tebeau tripled.  After an out was
recorded, Burkett came up and he banged out a single scoring the run.
Cleveland had a total of 13 hits for the game.  

The win went to Frank Bates(1-1) who allowed 1 run in 2 innings. Bates got
help from Chick Fraser who was credited with his 1st save.  Harry Maupin(2-1)
was the losing pitcher in relief.  He pitched 1 inning and surrendered 2 hits
and no walks.
