Doc Gessler knocked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the pathetic Boston Beaneaters
were badly beaten by the Brooklyn Superbas, 15 to 3.

Gessler had a great day at the plate. He smacked a single in the 1st inning,
cracked a two-run shot in the 4th inning, stroked a base-hit which brought
home a run in the 5th inning, blasted a solo shot in the 8th inning and
ripped a one-base hit which plated a run in the 8th inning. Brooklyn bats
were hot in the 8th inning when they had 6 runs on 5 hits. Brooklyn simply
wore out the Boston pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.

Doc Scanlan(12-16) allowed 3 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Jim
Delahanty(0-1) took the loss. He was touched for 4 homeruns in his 8 innings
of work.
