Bert Cunningham allowed Billy Barnie to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game at Oriole Park as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Brooklyn Bridegrooms 10
to 8.

Baltimore tallied 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning with the help of 5
hits. The biggest moment was provided by Tommy Tucker who made the crowd
happy when he delivered a one-base hit which was good for two runs. Brooklyn
threatened in the 9th but Baltimore was able to put down the rally.

Cunningham(15-16) got the victory, allowing 8 runs for the game. Bob
Caruthers(29-17) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 10 runs in 8 innings of
work.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Billy Barnie said after the game. 'Cunningham did not have
command of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew
how to pitch!'
