Ross Barnes slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI and Al Spalding was able to finish
what he started and was credited with a complete game at Capitoline Grounds
where the mighty Boston Red Stockings beat the Brooklyn A Atlantics by the
score of 8 to 2.

Boston jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring 2 runs on 3
hits.  George Wright opened up the inning nicely when he stroked a one-base
hit.  Barnes followed and he popped a two-run clout over the fence.  Boston
finished with 15 hits in the victory.  

The victory went to Spalding(37-8) who went the distance allowing 2 runs. The
loss was charged to Jim Britt(10-25).  He pitched 9 innings and surrendered
15 hits and no walks.
