WEB GEMS- Bot 3rd: Jim Fogarty robbed Cap Anson of a Homerun!

Fred Pfeffer cracked a homer and had 3 RBI and Jim McCormick completed the
game without help from the bullpen as the powerful Chicago White Stockings
outscored the Philadelphia Quakers 8 to 6.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Pfeffer. He cracked a two-run shot in the 1st inning and doubled
plating a run in the 3rd inning. Chicago had a total of 9 hits for the game.

The win went to McCormick(20-10) who allowed 6 runs in the game. The Only
Nolan(3-13) was the loser. He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an
earned run in his 8 innings of work.
