WEB GEMS- Top 3rd: Ross Barnes robbed Tom York of a base hit.

Asa Brainard had a complete game as the Baltimore C Canaries rallied
impressively to win in dramatic style over Boston Red Stockings, 15 to
10.

Baltimore C won the game with an offensive outburst in the 9th inning as they
pummeled Boston for 8 runs on 6 hits. Baltimore C kept the scorekeepers busy
in the 2nd inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 5 hits and the 9th inning
when they had 8 runs on 6 hits. Boston scored in 5 different innings, but
their shaky pitching kept them from victory.

Brainard(7-1) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 10 runs. Al
Spalding(37-11) was hit with the loss. Baltimore C scored big getting 15
runs off him in 9 innings.

Harry Wright was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough
loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a
terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to
lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin'
on us this afternoon'
