The deciding run was scored by Louisville in the top of the 8th. After an out was recorded, Bill Merritt tripled. Clausen came next and he worked the squeeze play to perfection scoring the run. Cleveland had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. Clausen(12-10) was the winner allowing 6 runs for the game. Tom Williams(0-1) ended up with the loss. 'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Clausen, 'I got burned on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
