Al Spalding tossed a complete game as the Boston Red Stockings clobbered the
outmatched Brooklyn Atlantics, 22 to 7.

Deacon White enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He tripled plating a run in the
1st inning, tripled which plated a run in the 2nd inning and delivered a
base-hit in the 9th inning.  Boston kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st
inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 6 hits and the 6th inning when they had
7 runs on 4 hits.  The Boston offense smacked the Brooklyn pitching staff
around, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.  

Spalding(38-22), allowing 7 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Tommy
Bond(15-37) was tagged with the loss.  He was not very effective,
surrendering 22 runs in 9 innings.
