Harry Schafer had 4 hits and scored 3 times at Ball Club Grounds as the
indomitable Boston club pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Hartford
Dark Blues by the count of 10 to 9.

Boston scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning with 2 runs. Deacon White
led off and keyed the rally when he reached on an error. Schafer followed
next and he stroked a one-base hit. Jack Manning then reached on an error.
After an out was recorded, Ross Barnes came to bat and reached on an error
bringing home two baserunners. Although they lost, Hartford did out-hit
Boston 15 to 11.

Cal McVey(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 9 runs. Frank Heifer got the save, his 1st. The loss was charged to
Candy Cummings(28-18). He was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not
allow an earned run in the game.
